Committees
Business Education Partnerships

The primary goal of this committee is to promote the exchange of information and resources between business and education, and to educate and prepare a qualified workforce through collaborations with the schools and businesses.
Some of the benefits of becoming a business partner are to heighten the awareness of business and the trades, improve the quality of tomorrow’s workforce, provide career and life skills education that goes beyond the classroom, and foster information sharing and relationship building among our schools and businesses.
In 2008-09 one area of focus for the Business Education Partnership was supporting 37 students from seven local high schools that participated in the annual Youth Leadership Institute. The past several years this program was sponsored by Waubonsee Community College. The program brings students from both public and private high schools to assist in the development of leadership skills, nurture understanding among the students and promote the diversity of our community. This year we added Steven Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens to the curriculum that was provided by the City of Aurora and Communities In Schools.
The annual Business-Education Kick-off Breakfast will be held on Tuesday, September 29, at 8:00 a.m. at the Prisco Community Center at Illinois Avenue and Lake Street in Aurora. Superintendents from Districts 129, 131, and 204 have been invited to speak.
